Benefits of Lean Manufacturing and Related Blogs

Lean manufacturing is the process of cutting back on certain materials or speeding up certain processes to lower the overall cost of manufacturing. There can be key benefits to this approach to manufacturing, but it's important to move forward with a balanced view of lowering costs without compromising quality. This blog looks at that concept, but it also delves into other information related to the manufacturing and industrial fields. Ultimately, this blog is designed to help manufacturing professionals as well as B2B clients who purchase products or outsource processes to this field. If you have questions, I hope that you find the answers you need here.

3 Benefits of Triangular Mailing Tubes

by Mark Peters

While mailing tubes are usually circular, you can also buy triangular options. These tubes are usually made of sturdy cardboard and come in flat packs. Once you slot them together you get a three-sided package that you can use to mail or store items.

What are the benefits of using triangular mailing tubes?

1. Get a Smaller Storage Footprint

If you use a lot of mailing tubes, then you might buy in bulk to save money. Large orders typically give you a lower per-piece price. If you use regular round tubes, then you need to find space to store them. While individual tubes might be small, a bulk order takes up more space. You need enough room to fit the tubes without squashing or bending them. Plus, the circle shape of these tubes makes them prone to rolling. If you don't store them securely, piles can collapse.

Triangular mailing tubes come in flat packs which take up less space. You can stack them up high on the floor or against a wall. Their sheet design stays where you put it. These tubes don't roll.

2. Get Easier-to-Use Tubes

If you use traditional circular tubes, then your packing process can be tricky. Once you fill a tube, you can't simply move on to the next one. If you leave the filled tube on a table, it might roll around or even fall off onto the floor. This might damage the tube and its contents.

Triangular tubes have three flat sides. So, when you put them on a surface, they will stay put. You can stack them together a lot more easily if you're processing bulk orders.

3. Get a More Sustainable Solution

The cardboard in a standard mailing tube might be recyclable; however, the whole tube might not be as sustainable. These tubes typically come with plastic caps that fit on both ends of a tube to seal it. While some plastics are technically recyclable, it can take years for them to break down. Non-recyclable plastics are pretty indestructible. So, you won't do your bit for the environment here.

Triangular tubes don't need end caps. They have folding cardboard ends. As well as saving you money on caps, these ends make the tubes more environmentally friendly. They are completely made of cardboard. They are also strong enough for your customers to reuse if they want to be greener. If not, the whole tube can go into a general paper and cardboard recycling bin.
