Benefits of Lean Manufacturing and Related Blogs

Lean manufacturing is the process of cutting back on certain materials or speeding up certain processes to lower the overall cost of manufacturing. There can be key benefits to this approach to manufacturing, but it's important to move forward with a balanced view of lowering costs without compromising quality. This blog looks at that concept, but it also delves into other information related to the manufacturing and industrial fields. Ultimately, this blog is designed to help manufacturing professionals as well as B2B clients who purchase products or outsource processes to this field. If you have questions, I hope that you find the answers you need here.

Selection Guide for Concrete Saws

by Mark Peters

Cutting through concrete is not an easy task, but with the right concrete saw at your disposal and the skill to work with the equipment, you can always make light work of the job. If you are looking for a concrete saw you can use for an upcoming concrete cutting project, you should know how to go about the selection process. Take these considerations into account to ensure you pick the right working equipment for your particular job:

  • Consider the adaptability of the machine

Because every job is different, you need to select a machine that is specially configured to your project requirements. Concrete saws are available as handheld tools, walk-behinds and wall sawing systems. Handheld concrete saws are DIY-friendly machines that are best-suited for small jobs; walk-behinds are ideal for concrete sawing projects that are bigger in scope; whereas wall sawing systems help make it easy to work on concrete walls. So make sure you choose a machine that is well-adapted to your particular job.

  • Consider the power options available

Not all concrete saws are powered the same way. These machines can be electrically, hydraulically, pneumatically or fuel-powered. Your choice of a suitable working equipment will largely rely upon the conditions at the jobsite. If an adequate electricity supply is available at the site, for example, then it makes good sense choosing electric concrete saws. If there is no electricity connection, you will have to consider other options on the table, like hydraulically, pneumatically and fuel-powered saws.

If you will be working indoors, you should get a machine that does not emit harmful gas emissions. This may mean choosing an electric concrete saw over a diesel or petrol powered model. If there's no electricity on site, you can always opt for a hydraulic or pneumatic machine.

  • Consider the cutting depth required

Whether you want to remove the thin, top layer of the concrete floor so you can give it a new finish; cut through the cracks in a concrete slab so you can place control joints in the concrete or cut through a concrete block wall so you can pattern the wall, it is important that you choose a concrete saw that provides the right cutting depth. That way, you will be able to achieve proper cutting depths required for your particular application.

Concrete cutting and sawing is a dangerous job. If you cannot handle it safely, you had better leave the job to a professional contractor.
